The client:
ScottishPower is the UK's leading provider of wind power, and its third largest energy provider overall.
The challenge:
ScottishPower Electrical Training College provides training and development to all ScottishPower staff, as well as to external organisations and contractors. The college required a user-friendly online billing system, which would allow courses to be viewed, booked and paid for via the web, thereby offering a more convenient service for students, and a more cost-effective solution for ScottishPower.
The technology:
The external-facing Website was developed using the .NET framework and is integrated with an internal SQL Server course booking system.
The solution:
CES took charge of project specification, design, development, testing and training to develop an online system which would meet all of ScottishPower's requirements, while also offering a number of features to help the college administrate bookings and payments. These include an 'admin area', which allows administrators to view reports on courses and their payments. The external-facing website is integrated with all existing business applications, and, where appropriate, requests information in order to record any training carried out for compliance and certification purposes. Because security is paramount, the billing and payment centre is also integrated with the Worldpay service for processing online payments.
The system is expected to handle £500k – £1Million of transactions per year and to generate significant financial and efficiency savings for the organisation.
