| “We need a public facing website as well as a staff extranet/intranet that incorporates information from internal systems and that we can manage internally” |
The challenge:
Aberdeen Harbour required a public facing website as well as a staff extranet/intranet. The Company wished to manage the content on this site themselves going forward and also required information from internal systems to be available to stakeholders through their website.
The technology:
Microsoft SharePoint provided a number of content management features out the box which suited Aberdeen Harbour needs. The SharePoint 2010 interface was branded according to the Aberdeen Harbour style guide and a number of custom web parts were developed which connect directly to shipping information stored in an Oracle database. Website users can view live information as well as query the Oracle database for arrival and departure information. In addition the site uses SharePoint 2010 blog and RSS functionality. SharePoint workflow is also used within this secure area for the management of parking permit requests.
The solution:
CES developed a solution based on the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 platform. Website users can view live information as well as query the Oracle database for arrival and departure information.
Aberdeen Harbour staff and board members can also access a secure site which allows them to download confidential documents as well as view internal policies and procedures.
